Biography
João Pedro Marnoto, born in 1975 in Porto, Portugal, after completing his photography degree in the UK, received a grant from the Portuguese Centre of Photography to develop a personal project, a photography/video installation titled ”Pity vs Charity – Observation and Reflexion” (2001). Afterwards, he turned increasingly into documentary on long term projects, with his first book "The Rocks, People and Memories" published in 2007 dealing with the cultural and social heritage of a region in the heart of the Douro Wine region. Afterwards directed his first video documentary while conducting a photography workshop with children from urban and rural areas titled ”Between Us”, and in 2010 finished a photography and video project titled “Faith in Donkeys”, conducted in partnership with an environmental organization AEPGA (Association for the Study and Protection of Asinine Cattle), with a Book+DVD published in February 2010. In 2014 had a solo exhibition at the Portuguese Centre of Photography with the work titled “Journey With No Route”, an intimate exercise of awareness and consciousness, where instinct reflects upon reason and vice-versa, addressing the representation of the human experience upon a reflection on contemporaneity. More recently presented the work at FESTimagem2015 – International Festival of Image at São Paulo, Brazil.
Between several presentations, took part in the collective project titled “Happiness” with photography intervention in waiting rooms of Oporto Hospitals and Medical centres as part of Oporto 2001 European Capital of Culture, selected for Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hannover/Germany (2008), participated in “This Day of Change” project developed by Courrier Japan (2009), showed his work at FotoWeekDC 2010 in Washington DC/USA, won the award for Best National Documentary at Cine'Eco Festival - International Environmental Film Festival/Seia; Portugal (2012) with the documentary “Faith in Donkeys”, and broadcast it at the national open TV channel SIC, and more recently won the “Gold Award” from Graphis Advertising Annual 2016 for the video “Luxury of Time” for Porto Ferreira Port Wine company, and was invited to participate in the publication of the 20 years commemorative book of Porto World Heritage edited by the Porto Municipality.

Eduarda Freitas - Writer & Producer
Eduarda likes to be a trough of words. Or a storyteller. A former journalist between 2000 and 2014, for entities such as SIC (Portuguese open source TV), Expresso (Portuguese newspaper), RTP and ANTENA 1 (Portuguese public TV & Radio). Currently she is working in the field of cultural production but always flashing the eye to writing, whatever shape and form, as long as it comes from within. For now, she is writing a libretto for an opera, while playing with her own child.
Tiago Carvalho - Cinematographer & Editor
Tiago graduated in Sound and Image and later specialized in cinematography with a masters degree in Cinema and Audiovisual. His passion is to create images. To paint with light. To create moods. To bring full bloom to the director’s mind. As a cinematographer, his work has featured in several internacional film festivals, also receiving several awards for short-films such as “Naufrágio” (2010), “Artur” (2011), “Noite” (2013), the three of them directed by Flávio Pires, but also the feature film “É o Amor” (2013), by João Canijo. His commercial work as also been hounered by awards such as the Bronze Bear in Cannes Lions for “Troll” (2014) in collaboration with This is Pafica and Loopa Studio.
André Macedo - Motion Graphics, Web & Graphic Design
André develops projects in a spectrum within print design, screen design, interaction and interface design. Sometimes illustration and more recently motion design. He has a college degree in Visual Communication Design at Oporto, Portugal, and a Masters degree in a Multimedia Interface Design, held in Barcelona, where he moved and worked for some years. He´s currently interested in the intersection between the analog and the digital realms.

João Pedro Marnoto, born in 1975 in Porto, Portugal, after completing his photography degree in the UK, has devoted his work in over twenty years of professional practice within the grounds of documentary storytelling imagery, while using it towards a means of personal exploration. Both an excuse and a tool that allows him to live and explore meaningfully the many adventures and challenges that life offers, and extending his tools of trade from still into moving image, his approach intents to be an intimate exercise of awareness and consciousness, with his projects reflecting on issues of identity and the human condition within an environmental, sociological, personal and human perspective.
